Labor Day Ideas!
Posted on September 1, 2010 · Leave a CommentThis weekend is Labor Day Weekend and there are so many things to do I don’t even know where to begin! Usually I like to spend my Labor Days at home in my apartment but this year I want to change it up. I want to be out and about this weekend with neighbors and friends from Barton’s Crossing.
So I’m torn between two events…either I’ll be at the Labor Day Pig Roast at Cafe Saint Ex or the Labor Day Burger Eating Contest at Whitlow’s on Wilson. I know that both involve food but what’s a holiday without food?
Which event do you think I should I go to?

Man’s Best Friend!
Posted on August 26, 2010 · Leave a CommentToday is National Dog Day and for good reason! They are “man’s best friend!”
When people say man’s best friend I simply beg to differ. Dogs can be a woman’s best friend as well. Personally I’m more of a dog person and I while I appreciate cats, I’m allergic. Dogs are fun and they are always willing to be there for you and cuddle.
Barton’s Crossing is a pet-friendly community and we want to help you celebrate National Dog Day in the best way possible! We have some great ways to celebrate your furry friend!
- Post pictures of your dog on our Facebook Page! Let us see how cute your loved one is!
- Buy your pet a special treat! A new dog toy or a delicious snack!
- Take your dog out to our fenced in dog run! Give them they space they’ll love!
- Pamper your puppy! Give them a bath or take them to the pet salon!
- Don’t have a dog but want one? Adopt or Rescue a pet!

Look Ma! No Shoes!
Posted on August 11, 2010 · Leave a CommentMy mother always hated it when I would run around without shoes on, she’d always tell me to go find my shoes. Well now that I’m older not much has changed I still loved to run around barefooted…well maybe things have changed a little. I love to run around in my Vibram Five Fingers!
While I’m technically running with “shoes” on, you can hardly count Vibram Five Fingers as shoes. They are more like gloves for your feet. While most of you think that running without shoes is horrible (no arch support, cushion…etc.) it’s actually great.
The typical human foot is an anatomical marvel of evolution with 26 bones, 33 joints, 20 muscles, and hundreds of sensory receptors, tendons and ligaments. Like the rest of the body, to keep our feet healthy, they need to be stimulated and exercised.
When you run barefooted of course your muscles will begin to become stronger and you’ll begin to support yourself better.
You can buy Vibram Five Fingers either online or at REI. Barton’s Crossing is less than 10 minutes away from REI. Check out Vibram Five Fingers!
